| New Hardwood Floors: For newly installed wood floors, follow the manufacturer's floor care recommendations for floor preparation and acclimation period prior to applying any seal or finish. After the floor has been sanded, the wood floor should be lightly screened using a #120 grit mesh screen. Remove all dust residues by vacuuming or sweeping and then tack rag the floor using the proper cleaner depending on the type of wood seal or finish you will be using. Before sealing any bare wood floor, the moisture content of the floor must be less than 10% moisture. It is also preferable that the atmospheric humidity is less than 80%.
Previously Coated Hardwood Floors: Practically all previously coated wood floors can be brought back to their original beauty with a simple light sanding, vacuuming, tack ragging, and recoating. This wood floor care process removes dirt, rubber burns, body oils, and other contaminants and provides adequate abrasion to ensure a good bond for the new coat of finish. This process will also remove any scratches or mars that have built-up over time, as well as lighten floors that have darkened with age. |
